Hi all,
Early this morning, a very rare eclipse came to an end: for about two
days the planet venus was hidden behind the sun (next and previous such
events are 1878 and 2121, so it's really rare!)
Roughly at the same time, a period of invisibility has ended for the OTDT, too.
Today I uploaded a snapshot labeled 1.2.0M2, which is a preview of the
upcoming 1.2.0 release, the latter being scheduled approximately for the time
of the Eclipse Ganymede release (June 25).
Version 1.2.0 will not bring many new OT-related features, but it will bring
all the new Eclipse features to the OTDT. The major issue in migrating to 3.4
was the integration with the new provisioning system "p2".
Since this integration is still a little bumpy, I collected some tips and
tricks in our wiki:
http://trac.objectteams.org/ot/wiki/TowardsOTDT1.2
This page also contains the initial installation instructions.
I should mention, that most of the issues mentioned on that page can't
really be solved on our side, but relate to open bugs in eclipse and/or
the Sun JVM.
Please consider M2 as an excercise for the new build and install procedures.
It is already usable but still contains a few known bugs (3 errors, 33 failures).
M3 will hopefully be bug-free with respect to our test suites, such that
at the time of the final release we will be back at the stability and maturity
that you may expect from the OTDT.
best,
Stephan
